Football's governing body FIFA has decided to introduce a strict betting ban for all players at this summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter revealed today that players for the 32 competing nations must sign a statement before the tournament, saying that neither they nor their family members would bet on World Cup games.
The move comes following the recent match-fixing scandal in host nation Germany where tainted referee Robert Hoyzer, 26, was sentenced to two years and five months in jail after being found guilty of fixing matches for financial gain.
This, of course, does not apply to you so use the free bet on the right! |
