Coach : Stephen Keshi
The Nigerian coach played for the Super Eagles at the 1994 World Cup and learned his trade as a coach in the United States. Took over as Togo boss in 2004 and guided them to a surprise place at the 2006 tournament.
Key Players
Put simply, the hopes of the whole of Togo rest on Adebayor's shoulders. Scored 11 goals in qualification and led the line superbly in every game. Nominated for African Footballer of the Year award in 2005. Plays for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco and will relish the opportunity to pit his wits against France in the qualifiers. A lanky centre-forward who is great in the air, Adebayor has more than held his own since moving to Europe.
Form Guide
Possibly produced the biggest shock of the preliminaries by topping Group One to beat South Africa, Senegal and Zambia to take first place and automatically qualify.
Form V Countries In Group
Having never qualified before for a World Cup, Togo have obviously never met France, Switzerland or South Korea in the biggest of all stages.
Style Of Play
Very physical, strong in the tackle and full of energy, Togo took their opponents by surprise with intricate team moves and wily tactics.
Group Verdict
Everything points to Togo coming bottom of the group in Germany - but some would have argued the same thing before qualifying began. Togo are capable of going one better if South Korea and Switzerland falter.
