Explosive midfielder, Bresciano got the goal which levelled the play-off with Uruguay. Left Carlton for Italian side Empoli, where he quickly impressed and earned a big-money move to Serie A mainstay Parma before the 2002/03 season. Established himself at Parma during the 2003/04 campaign, scoring eight league goals, and has also played in the UEFA Cup. Bresciano made his international debut at the 2001 Confederations Cup, and although he was left out for the World Cup play-off later that year, he has been a regular since. He and Vince Grella were unavailable for the 2005 Confederations Cup as they had to help Parma successfully negotiate a relegation play-off.
