Miroslav Klose feels he is back on track for a successful World Cup following an outstanding performance in Germany's 4-1 victory over USA on Wednesday.
The Werder Bremen striker scored one goal and created two more in the international friendly in one of his best matches for his country. It comes as a major relief for the 27-year-old, who missed last summer´s Confederations Cup after knee surgery.
"I wanted to give some sort of reaction after a disappointing time with the national team last year," Klose explained. "I was not at all satisfied with my showings. I didn't play well and everyone who knows me knows how ambitious I am."
Klose claimed he also got a touch on Bastian Schweinsteiger´s 46th-minute free-kick even though the goal was officially awarded to the Bayern Munich star.
"I touched it slightly but that does not matter at all," he added. "It's important that we had success with a play we had studied in practice."
Coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced his team will play an additional friendly before the start of the World Cup in June.
"We have had only eight days with the team this year and we need more time, especially for tactical issues," Klinsmann said.
"The most work will be done in the training camp in May and we will stage another friendly on May 27
